#4953 Colt S/A, “U.S. Artillery”, 5-1/2”x45COLT, 119XXX frame (David F. Clark inspected)
Description
#4953 Colt S/A, “U.S. Artillery”, 5-1/2”x45COLT, 119XXX frame (David F. Clark inspected), italic addressed barrel which looks to be “J” (inspector unidentified), Henry Nettleton inspected backstrap. The triggerguard is in the 42XXX range, but I don’t see an inspector mark on it or on the cylinder. The cylinder does have a dim serial number and a “P” proof mark …and is the short lead-in slot of the early cylinders, so likely the inspector mark was lost in the refinishing when converted to an Artillery. The frame patent lines and US are also almost lost in the refinishing. One piece walnut grips are not inspected and have possibly been replaced, although they fit like a glove. Some thinning finish remaining and plumming to thin brown, crisp action and VG+ bore. Front sight profile has been altered during its long lifetime, but overall a decent and handsome revolver. There are lots of pictures of this old Indian fighter, so if they all do not load up, be sure to e-mail me and I’ll forward them along to you. VG++ as described. $2895
Price: $2,895.00
