Remington New Model 1858 Cartridge Conversion

Description

Item Number R92972. This is a decent old Remington that was brought back to life with a cartridge conversion to 44 Colt in the early 1870’s. Serial number 92610 with no visible conversion number that I can find. Barrel address is almost gone and while the metal surfaces show some roughness from light pitting, the gun still shows light traces of blue in protected areas. All original, as converted, with the possible exception of the hammer. It appears to me that the hammer spur has been broken off and welded back on, but it was very neatly done, and long ago. Correct grips are worn smooth, showing no cartouche. Ejector system is present and correct. Action is very tight and right on time. Barrel is unstretched, and bore is surprisingly good, though dark with very light roughness. A true survivor of the Civil War that was recycled into service on the frontier. Feel free to email me with any questions, and please check out my other items for sale.
