#4930 Winchester 1885 Hi-Wall 30”xNo.3x32/40 Sporting Rifle

Description

#4930 Winchester 1885 Hi-Wall 30”xNo.3x32/40 Sporting Rifle, tangsight, SST, shotgun style butt, 72XXX range (c1895). Bore is very decent except for one small area about four inches from the muzzle that looks to either be a wiping cloth left in the bore (a common practice against dust) or maybe a slight ring caused from a hung slug. Whatever it is, it is slight and has no visible or decernable bulge on the exterior and looks like it would still be accurate. The barrel retains about 90%+ coverage of an 80% density blue and there are very good traces of case colors left in the reciever …most of which does not show well in the photos below (unfortunately). The wood is near Fine and shows only minor wear, dings, and bruises ….but no serious damage. It looks to have a single-set trigger, but needs the correct adjustment screw and to be adjusted to be used as a set trigger. The tang sight has most of the finish and looks to have been added later in this guns life, although it does have a factory type barrel mortise plug to replace the common semi-buckhorn standard rear sight; front sight is the target fixed globe type. Overall, a much better than average Hi-Wall in a very popular and accurate shooters caliber …and also having the less common shotgun style buttstock, set trigger, globe and tang sight.
