#0896 Walscheid (Solengin) Cavalry Model 1840 Wristbreaker

Description

#0896 Walscheid (Solengin) Cavalry Model 1840 Wristbreaker Heavy Dragoon sabre w/scabbard, maker marked on the throat. Nice sabre, but does show having been sharpened at some point ...and crudely done as if with a common file or grinding wheel. Nice original single ring scabbard and fine leather/wire wrapped grip that is 95% intact and tight. Nice handguard quillions with an even mustard colored patina. Walscheid was one of the more prolific European importers of sabres to the North (and possibly the South) during the American Civil War ....and this is just a decent example of a very desireable Heavy Dragoon (Cavalry) type weapon ...and if not for the blade sharpening, this would be a Extra-Fine conditioned set. $725
