#0862 Model 1840 Heavy Dragoon sabre w/scabbard

Description

#0862 Model 1840 Heavy Dragoon sabre w/scabbard, unmarked (or at least, unreadable maker markings) and undated. This sabre has unfortunately been left in some wet atmosphere to where both the scabbard and blade have suffered rust and pitting, but the grip has survived in very nice condition with about all the wrap and wire. The guard is very nice as well and has a nice even mellow mustard colored patina. These Wristbreaker sabres (so-called because of the tendancies to break the wrist of the weilder when slashing due to the heavy weight of the sabre) were imported in huge quantities from Europe and sold to BOTH sides in the Civil War, and while this particular one MAY be an American maker, the throat area is too pitted to see any markings so one should assume that it is possibly an imported maker. Usually upwards of eight-nine hundred dollars, this one is a lot lower priced due to the condition of the scabbard and blade. Still a true Civil War veteran. $595 (Please read sellers rules below ..and thanks for looking!!)

Price: $595.00
