Colt 1860 Army, 1861, 4-Screw, All Matching
Description
Item Number C11282. Everything matches on this ’60 Army, even the wedge and grips. Serial number 15187. This gun was obviously lightly used and then put away for ages, and has a really nice bore. Not much in the way of original finish, maybe a little light blue along the cylinder rebate step, otherwise brownish gray patina and mellow brass. The metal surface is smooth with the exception of about 1/3 of the left side of the barrel and a spot on the rammer with pitting that looks like a holster decayed onto it. Another real possibility is that it was caused by blood, considering the lack of similar pitting anywhere else on the gun. Fit is tight at barrel-frame junction, action is good, but not quite as smooth as I like. Each serial number has a mysterious “punch-dot” either above or below it, which I’m told occurs in several guns in this serial range. Grips fit like a glove and are buttery-smooth, with serial number inked in the strap channel. Aside from the pitting on the barrel, this is a really great old early Colt that was originally shipped to J. C. Grubb in Philadelphia, in November 1861. However, I do NOT have a factory letter on it. Email me with any questions you may have, and don’t forget to take a look at my other items for sale.
